Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington to Star in’ Little Fires Everywhere’ TV Series

Reese Witherspoon loves herself some "little" TV.

Just as Witherspoon teamed up with Nicole Kidman to make HBO's "Big Little Lies," she is partnering with "Scandal" lead Kerry Washington to produce and headline a new limited TV series based on Celeste Ng's bestelling book "Little Fires Everywhere."

The series, scripted by Liz Tigelaar ("Casual"), has already sparked a bidding frenzy among premium cable networks and streaming outlets.

The book, which was published just last year, is set in Shaker Heights, Ohio in the 1990s. The community is thrown into an uproar over the controversial adoption of a Chinese-American baby. At the heart of it is Elena Richardson and her seemingly perfect family and her new tenant, a single mother with a teen daughter.

Tigelaar will serve as showrunner; she's free now since the fourth and final season of "Casual" will be released on Hulu in July.

Washington ends her seven-season run on ABC's "Scandal" in April. Witherspoon, meanwhile, adds to an already-crowded plate. She is starring in next week's "A Wrinkle in Time," making a second season of "Big Little Lies," and teaming up with Jennifer Aniston in a morning show drama for Apple.
