Out of the "Grey's Anatomy" hospital, into the firehouse.
ABC debuted the first trailer for "Station 19," the spinoff of "Grey's Anatomy" featuring firefighters just down the road from Grey-Sloan Memorial in Seattle. The new drama, which premieres March 22, brings over Jason George as doctor-turned-first responder Ben Warren.
The trailer focuses heavily on Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz), a seasoned firefighter who steps up when her captain dad (Miguel Sandoval) is injured in the line of duty. Not only does Andy have to contend with taking on a leadership role, she's also torn between two men — her best friend and a fellow firefighter.
As for Ben, he may have been a surgeon but now he's just another rookie trying to fit in.
The trailer also teases an appearance by Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, who clearly is familiar with Andy.
"Station 19" will be both "similar and different" to the mothership, creator Stacy McKee said earlier this month. The spinoff will have the same "tone and intensity and humor and heart. But there's also an added element to this show that a hospital setting doesn't allow which is that most of our characters are on site and in the middle of action sequences, so there's a certain level of adrenaline and energy that comes with that that you don't necessarily find in the same way at 'Grey's.'"
"Station 19" premieres Thursday, March 22 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
