When I was on the set of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" back in spring 2016, they had visit a soundstage that was constructed out of an old convention center in Atlanta. You'd walk through the double doors like you'd be going to a trade show for, I don't know, auto parts, and wind up literally in another galaxy. On the day that we were there, we saw some of the Guardians (Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax) as they walked from the Milano to another ship that looked like a 1960s-era bachelor pad. On giant speakers, all around the soundstage, a song boomed: Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain." You could feel how important the song was on that day and could only imagine its impact in the final movie.
Well, "The Chain" wound up being an unforgettable part of not only the marketing for the James Gunn film, but also the movie itself, where it's reprised during a climactic battle. In the end nothing could break the chain.
And in our exclusive look at one of the special features for the upcoming home video release of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," you can see why Gunn picked the song and how it fit into the movie's larger thematic and narrative concerns. It's pretty awesome.
You'll find this (and more) when "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" hits digital and Disney Movies Anywhere on August 8 and Blu-ray and (for the first time ever!) 4K Ultra HD on August 22.
