'Grey's Anatomy' Season 14 Premiere Is 'Fantastic, Funny' & Feels Old School

"Grey's Anatomy" just started taping its 14th season, and one star said the premiere "feels like vintage Grey's." That has to be music to the ears of longtime fans.

Season 14 does already have a good vibe about it. Maybe that's from seeing the cast shoot on location in Seattle instead of just in the usual Los Angeles studios. Or maybe it's seeing Krista Vernoff's name again as the writer of the Season 14 premiere, in a return for the head writer/executive producer who left the ABC show in 2011.

That premiere episode, titled "Break Down the House," airs September 28. Actor Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) was one of the many stars spotted taping in Seattle -- for what Entertainment Weekly said will be exterior scenes to play throughout Season 24. After tweeting some Seattle pics, McKidd answered some "Grey's" Season 14 questions:

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 certainly didn't end on a "funny" note, so it'll be interesting to see how they add humor in the Season 14 premiere when they pick up the story.

The Grey's guys also got to throw out the first pitch during a Marines game.

Cast members Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey), Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery), Jason George (Ben Warren), Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson), and McKidd were all spotted taping in Seattle, but EW said production will continue in L.A. next week. The site said filming was not connected to the firefighters spinoff, which just cast its first star.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 premieres Thursday, September 28 on ABC.
