In "Fantastic Beasts 2" -- which will reveal its official title later -- Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) will team up with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to take on Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).
Grindelwald will "make a dramatic escape" from MACUSA custody, forcing Dumbledore to join the wizarding world's efforts to stop him. According to Pottermore, the villainous Grindelwald has been busy "gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizards above all non-magical beings." Dumbledore will look to his former student Newt for help, and Newt will again be joined by Queenie and Tina Goldstein in the next film, as well as his No-Maj friend Jacob Kowalski, and many new characters. (Also, Credence will be back, in a "mysterious" way.)
New characters include a bounty hunter called Grimmson, played by Icelandic actor Ingvar Sigurdsson; William Nadylam as a wizard called Yusuf Kama; Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Skender, the owner of a wizarding circus and Claudia Kim as one of the circus's "featured attractions." It was also confirmed that Callum Turner will play Newt's "war hero and Auror" older brother, Theseus Scamander, while Zoë Kravitz returns as Leta Lestrange, who was seen briefly in a moving photo in the first movie.
The sequel is set in 1927, months after Newt helped in the capture of Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, and Warner Bros. confirmed that the film will be set in New York, London, and Paris.
"Fantastic Beasts 2" is scheduled for release, directed by David Yates, on November 16, 2018.
