HBO Cancels 'Looking,' Orders Finale Special

LookingHBO is "Looking" no more.

The premium cable network canceled the acclaimed, but low-rated dramedy after two seasons. The series will have a chance to wrap up the stories of gay San Franciscans Patrick (Jonathan Groff), Agustin (Frankie J. Alvarez), and Dom (Murray Bartlett) in a finale special.

The second season concluded this past Sunday with the characters facing uncertain futures: Patrick was wavering between new boyfriend Kevin (Russell Tovey) and ex Richie (Raul Castillo), while Dom had "broken up" with best friend Doris (Lauren Weedman) as he was preparing to open his own restaurant.

"Looking" was never a big hit for HBO; Sunday's finale drew just 298,000 viewers (compare that to the "Girls" finale that same night, which drew 687,000 viewers)

"After two years of following Patrick and his tight-knit group of friends as they explored San Francisco in search of love and lasting relationships, HBO will present the final chapter of their journey as a special," the network announced in a statement. "We look forward to sharing this adventure with the shows loyal fans."
