'The Flash' Season 3 Flashpoint Version of Caitlin Is ... 'Awesome'?

Are you ready to enter the alternate universe of Flashpoint in "The Flash" Season 3? In the Season 2 finale, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) decided to go back in time to prevent the death of his mother. But as all "Back to the Future" fans know, messing with time comes with consequences. In this case, Barry created a Flashpoint timeline where almost everything is a little (or a lot) different from before.

Candice Patton (Iris) told TVLine that Iris remains Barry's "constant" and "is very similar to all of the Irises you've ever seen, and that's something that we're trying to make clear on the show. No matter where Barry goes, what timeline, what Earth, Iris is his constant in the world. She's always the Iris that he loves."

That is not the case with Caitlin in Flashpoint. Danielle Panabaker told Entertainment Weekly the Flashpoint version of Caitlin is "totally different."

TVLine added an intriguing Caitlin tease, while dropping the bad news that Tom Cavanagh is absent in the premiere:

Question: I'd love any scoops on Tom Cavanagh's character(s?) or Danielle Panabaker's Caitlin Snow on The Flash. Is Tom even going to be in the Season 3 premiere? —Rym
Ausiello: There is no sign of nor reference to any Cavanagh characters in the Oct. 4 opener. Meanwhile, having seen the premiere, we can confirm that the scant teases thus far about Flashpoint's version of Caitlin have been very carefully worded. And it is awesome.

Awesome! That's what we like to hear.

Here is The CW's synopsis for the Season 3 premiere, "Flashpoint":

"WHAT WOULD YOU SACRIFICE TO HAVE EVERYTHING YOU'VE EVER WANTED? - Barry (Grant Gustin) is living his dream life - his parents are alive, he's asked Iris West (Candice Patton) on a date and he can finally be a normal guy as Central City has another speedster, Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), running around saving the city. When Barry starts forgetting parts of his old life, the Reverse Flash (guest star Matt Letscher) taunts his nemesis and tells him that there will be serious repercussions for Barry and the ones he loves if he continues to live in this alternate universe. In addition to losing his memories, his powers will also start to fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide if he wants to continue to live in this world as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash."

Moving forward, here's the synopsis for Episode 2, "Paradox," which airs October 11 and features "Harry Potter" alum Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy):

"THE AFTERMATH - Barry (Grant Gustin) realizes the effects from Flashpoint are much greater than he thought. Meanwhile, Barry meets new co-worker Julian Albert (Tom Felton) and is surprised by Julian's immediate disdain for Barry."

"The Flash" Season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 4 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
