Third time's the charm for Viola Davis.
The actress took home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for "Fences," her third nomination and first win. Her first Academy Award nomination came in 2009, when she received a Best Supporting Actress nod for her brief -- but intensely memorable -- turn in "Doubt," co-starring Meryl Streep. In 2012, she earned a Best Actress nomination for her role Aibilene Clark in the big-screen adaptation of "The Help."
Davis's Best Supporting Actress Oscar rounds out an awards season in which she's already taken home a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, a Critics Choice Award, and a SAG Award for playing Rose Maxson in the film adaptation of August Wilson's Tony-winning play.
"Fences," directed by and co-starring Denzel Washington, is in theaters and streaming now.
