It's almost unfathomable that "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the most highly anticipated superhero sequel, well, ever, is just around the corner. Although, also, it seems like "The Avengers" was only yesterday and that happened way back in the year of our lord 2012. So we might be stuck in some kind of time loop. The point is: "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is very, very close to coming out (May 1st!) and the brand new trailer will make that wait a whole lot harder than it was before you watched it.
This trailer is certainly moodier than the first trailer (and, indeed, the first film), with lots of shots tinted a grayish blue and people running for their lives in war-ravaged lands. You get a little more background as to why genius billionaire superhero (and former arms dealer) Tony Stark aka Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) decides to build the nefarious Ultron (voiced by James Spader). "This vulnerable world, it needs something more powerful than any of us," Tony intones with the utmost severity. Yes, we're a long way from pithy quips like, "We've got a Hulk." The rest of the trailer shows our heroes (Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Chris Evans' Captain America, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye) in various states of combat and consternation, with relatively few glimpses of the new characters (Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch). Of note: the fact that we still haven't seen The Vision (Paul Bettany), supposedly a very important character in this new movie. Oh and Andy Serkis! Andy Serkis is in this trailer!
In short: it looks really very cool and we can't wait to see it. See you on opening day!
