First, Harrison Ford was injured on the set of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"; now, his original trilogy co-star, Peter Mayhew, has also been hospitalized.
Mayhew, who plays Han Solo's wookiee sidekick Chewbacca, is currently in the hospital, where he's being treated for pneumonia. His wife, Angie Mayhew, confirmed the actor's illness on Reddit, but said he was making excellent progress.
"Thank you for all the well wishes, prayers, good vibes, and happy thoughts," Angie Mayhew wrote on the Star Wars subreddit. " ... He will make a full recovery, and hope[s] to be discharged within a few days. Doctors are incredibly happy with his improvements."
The webmaster of Peter Mayhew's official website also commented on the actor's illness, writing on Twitter that Mayhew is "recovering well" and thankful for the outpouring of well wishes from fans.
