Tyrion Lannister may be playing his own dangerous game on "Game of Thrones."
Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) is Daenerys Targaryen's (Emilia Clarke) Hand of the Queen, and in Season 7, Episode 2, she had him write a letter to Jon Snow (Kit Harington) at Winterfell, inviting him to Dragonstone to align with Team Dany to defeat Queen Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey).
HBO's Making Game of Thrones blog posted the entire note, which i09 transcribed:
"Queen Daenerys Targaryen, First of Her Name, invites you to Dragonstone. My queen commands the combined forces of Dorne and the Reach, an Ironborn fleet, legions of Unsullied, a Dothraki horde and three dragons. The Seven Kingdoms will bleed as long as Cersei sits on the Iron Throne. Join us. Together we can end her tyranny. I appeal to you, one bastard to another — for all dwarves are bastards in their fathers' eyes.

There's no mention in that letter of what Dany told Tyrion she wanted -- for Jon to come to her and pledge allegiance. "Bend the knee."
The prop letter may just be incomplete, but it's more likely a subtle move on Tyrion's part to get the King in the North to show up instead of saying "Hell with her, I'm not bending the knee" and losing the chance to talk face-to-face.
Jon doesn't know Dany, other than that she's a Targaryen with dragons who hasn't been in Westeros since she was a child. Jon only cares about defeating the White Walkers. That's his focus. He wants Dany's dragons for that, and it sounds like the Episode 3 meeting ahead is going to be fraught with misunderstandings.
She wants help defeating Cersei. He wants help defeating the White Walkers -- which only he, of the group, has seen at this point. He spent enough time with the Free Folk to be wary of kneelers, and the last thing he'll want is to bow to another king/queen in the endless succession. He put up with Stannis, and ultimately earned Stannis's respect, so that may be all Dany can hope for at this point.
Speaking of Stannis, Melisandre thought he was Azor Ahai, but now she's moved on to both Dany and Jon. Is either one the Prince or Princess That Was Promised? Is it neither? Is it no one (or Arya as No One)? Is it Gendry? Or even Hot Pie? Has anyone even tried to bribe the White Walkers with baked goods? That's the kind of vision the Seven Kingdoms could use right now.
