Sorry, Captain Marvel Won't Appear in 'Avengers: Infinity War'

Premiere Of A24's 'Free Fire' - ArrivalsFans eagerly awaiting Marvel's first movie headlined by a solo female superhero won't be getting a sneak peek anytime soon.

Rumors had swirled that Brie Larson's "Captain Marvel" would be introduced in next May's "Avengers: Infinity War." Well, director Joe Russo, who helmed the latter film with brother Anthony, iced the speculation during a press event after Comic Con.

"She's not in 'Avengers 3," Russo told ComicBook.com.

He did not rule Captain Marvel's involvement in "Avengers 4," however. The follow-up is closely tied to "Infinity War" and is slated for release in 2019, just a few months after "Captain Marvel" debuts.

"Infinity War" brings together the Avengers — including Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Black Widow, and Doctor Strange — and the Guardians of the Galaxy to fight supervillain Thanos.

"Captain Marvel," scheduled for March 8, 2019, tells the story of Carol Danvers, an Airforce pilot who gains super powers in an explosion made by the Kree. The movie will be set in the 1980s and feature Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury (with both eyes intact!).
