'Ant-Man and the Wasp' Suit Up in New Photo

A new photo from the upcoming Marvel sequel "Ant-Man and the Wasp" has arrived, and it finally unites our titular duo in all their superhero glory.

The image features Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd in character -- and in Lilly's case, in full costume at last -- as Hope Van Dyne and Scott Lang, a.k.a. Wasp and Ant-Man. While we've seen Lilly before in part of her suit, this is the first time we've seen her fully transformed into her insect-monikered alter ego, and we're loving all of her outfit's subtle nods to her winged inspiration. From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes “Ant Man and the Wasp,” a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.   “Ant-Man and the Wasp” is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale,  Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John Kamen, Abby Ryder-Fortson, Randall Park, with Michelle Pfeiffer, with Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Douglas.   Kevin Feige is producing with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Charles Newirth, and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, Paul Rudd, Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari wrote the screenplay. “Ant-Man and the Wasp” hits U.S. theaters on July 6, 2018.

The photo is practically buzzing with anticipation, and we are too, especially considering Lilly's previous comments about the characters' adventures in this new chapter. According to the actress, the events of "Ant-Man and the Wasp" will have a major impact on the "Avengers" universe, potentially opening up new timelines for Marvel characters to explore on the big screen for years to come.

Of course, we'll have to wait for the sequel's premiere -- not to mention the May release of "Avengers: Infinity War" -- to know more. "Ant-Man and the Wasp" is due to hit theaters on July 6.
