It's Official: 'A Quiet Place' Sequel Is Happening

Shhhhhhh ... it's around the corner.

John Krasinski's horror film "A Quiet Place" is the kind of success story filmmakers -- and studios -- dream about.

So, yeah, there will be another one. That's the way of our world -- if it works, double it!

Paramount chairman-CEO Jim Gianopulos announced the sequel news at CinemaCon:

"If you told me five years ago that an almost silent film starring the very funny guy Jim from 'The Office' would have been a hit at Paramount, I would have said, 'Well, I should go work at Paramount.'"

Haha. There's no release date yet, since it's early days and the first film is still making money at the box office.

"A Quiet Place" only cost about $17 million to make and has earned more than $213 million so far, worldwide. It even beat Dwayne Johnson's "Rampage" this past week to reclaim the No. 1 spot at the box office.

Horror is huge! It may be the one thing that bridges our many divides. We liked to be scared poopless, and we'll pay good money to whoever can do it well.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "A Quiet Place" screenwriters Bryan Woods and Scott Beck said they have plenty of material leftover for a sequel. So it's not like they'll have to come up with something out of nowhere just because the first film did well. That's encouraging.
