'The Bachelor' Creator Making New Dating Reality Show 'The Proposal' For ABC

THE BACHELOR - "Episode 2201" - What do a quirky, cute set decorator who has a thing for taxidermy, death and zombies; a Yale graduate with the business acumen to be a big success, but failing grades in love; a rock-climbing nanny who combines youthful exuberance with classic charm; a lovely Latin lady who can spice things up in the romance department; and a former model who harbors a huge secret all have in common? They all have their sights set on making the Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk Jr., their future husband when the much-anticipated 22nd edition of ABC’s hit romance reality series “The Bachelor” premieres, MONDAY, JAN. 1 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Paul Hebert)REBEKAH, ARIE LUYENDYK JR.If you like watching attractive people get engaged on television, the producers behind "The Bachelor" have a new show for you.

"The Bachelor" creator Mike Fleiss is bringing a new dating reality series to ABC. "The Proposal" will feature 10 eligible daters competing in four pageant-style rounds to win the heart of a mystery suitor (or suitress) in hopes that they say yes to an engagement.

The show will be hosted by a former "Bachelor," Jesse Palmer, who wooed ladies on Season 5. It's a bit ironic since Palmer didn't propose to the winner of his season, Jessica Bowlin. Instead, they continued to date, but then broke up a few weeks later.

Each episode will follow the male or female daters the male or female daters as they try to win over the secret suitor in first impression and beachwear rounds, answer uncomfortable romantic questions, and then try to earn a seal of approval from the suitor's most-trusted family member. After each round, daters are eliminated until there are two finalists, who meet and then propose to the mystery lead.

The most recent season of "The Bachelor" caused some controversy, when Arie Luyendyk Jr. broke up with his winner, Becca Kufrin, to get back together with runner-up Lauren Burnham. In the aftermath, Luyendyk said he regretted proposing to Kufrin and wished he'd had more time to make his decision.

Kufrin is set to be the next "Bachelorette." Her season premieres May 28.
