All the TV Shows Canceled or Renewed by NBC and Fox

American IdolThe TV upfronts kicked off this week with NBC and Fox unveiling their fall lineups to advertisers. Their presentations included the usual cancellation announcements, though this year's was particularly newsworthy as Fox revealed that the next season of "American Idol" will be its last. The network also announced that its smash hit "Empire" would return in the fall and run for 18 episodes.

As for NBC, it is debuting another Dick Wolf drama in "Chicago Med," while relegating its remaining comedies to Friday nights. Here are Fox and NBC's pickups and cancellations:

NBC
Cancellations: "About a Boy," "Allegiance," "A to Z," "Bad Judge," "Constantine," "Marry Me," "One Big Happy," "The Slap," "State of Affairs"

New shows: "Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris," "Blindspot," "Game of Silence," "Heartbreaker," "Heroes Reborn," "People Are Talking," "The Player,"

Midseason: "Chicago Med," "Coach," "Crowded," "Hot and Bothered," "Shades of Blue," "Superstore," "You, Me, and the End of the World"

Cancellations: "Backstrom," "The Following," "Gracepoint," "The Mindy Project," "Mulaney," "Red Band Society," "Utopia," "Weird Loners"

New shows: "Grandfathered," "The Grinder," "Minority Report," "Rosewood," "Scream Queens"
