In a post on Twitter last Friday, Reynolds confirmed that filming on "Deadpool" had officially ended, joking that he was "going to eat a samich" now that he didn't need to stay in tip-top superhero shape. The film "has been a privilege to make," the actor tweeted. "And we got to make this film because of you."

Reynolds hasn't been shy about sharing lots of insider-y looks at the flick with online followers, and his eagerness to recognize the support of fans throughout the process has been much appreciated. The actor isn't kidding when he said that it was moviegoers who got the ball rolling on the long-gestating flick; Deadpool hadn't appeared onscreen since his film debut in 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and after that flick's middling success, it seemed Reynolds's day in the spotlight would never come.
Thankfully for fans, everything worked out. "Deadpool" is due in theaters on February 12, 2016.
