Dwayne Johnson's 'Rampage' Taps 'Walking Dead' Villain Jeffrey Dean Morgan

AMC presents 'Talking Dead Live' for the premiere of 'The Walking Dead'Jeffrey Dean Morgan gets to take a break from playing his notorious "Walking Dead" character, Negan, and take on a part that doesn't involve carrying around a barbed wire-wrapped bat called Lucille.

The actor has nabbed a supporting role in "Rampage," an upcoming film based on the 1980s arcade game, Deadline reports. The move makes him part of a star-studded ensemble cast that also includes Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, and Joe Manganiello, among others.

It sounds like Morgan might get to be on the side of the good guys this time, though we're just guessing at this point. He'll play the swaggering Agent Russell, a member of the secret government division OGA. Plot details are still limited, but the gist of the story is that the military will have to take on three giant monsters rampaging around North America. Maybe he'll need Lucille after all.

"Rampage" is expected to hit theaters on April 20, 2018.
