Kevin Spacey Hosting 2017 Tony Awards

100: The Apollo Celebrates EllaKevin Spacey will host the 2017 Tony Awards.

The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing announced that the Tony winner, Oscar winner, and Emmy nominee will emcee the 71st annual awards, which will be broadcast live on CBS on June 11.

His selection comes after rumors floated that the Tonys were having a difficult time finding a host. The New York Post reported that Tina Fey turned down the gig, as did previous hosts James Corden, Hugh Jackman, and Neil Patrick Harris.

"I was their second choice for 'Usual Suspects,' fourth choice for 'American Beauty' and 15th choice to host this year's Tony Awards," Spacey joked in the announcement. "I think my career is definitely going in the right direction. Maybe I can get shortlisted to host the Oscars if everyone else turns it down," he added.

Spacey, who is starring in a new season of Netflix's "House of Cards" on May 30, is a decorated actor across stage and screen. He won a Tony in 1991 as Best Featured Actor in a Play for Neil Simon's "Lost in Yonkers," and has won two Academy Awards for "The Usual Suspects" and "American Beauty."
