A new trailer for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" amps up the destruction and fraught relations plaguing our heroes, with each member of the titular gang questioning his or her role in saving the world.
The clip begins with Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) stating the obvious: the threat facing Earth may be too big for the Avengers to handle.
"This vulnerable world needs something more powerful than any of us," he says, as shots of rubble and chaos abound.
This time, the group is facing off with Ultron (James Spader), who's making it his mission to drive wedges between our heroes in an effort to thwart them saving the day.
"I'm going to tear you apart from the inside," the villain promises, and it seems as if he's initially successful.
In one memorable moment, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) snarls at Iron Man, then later is seen having a tender moment with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). Could the pair be forming an alliance -- and a potential romance? -- in a split from the rest of the Avengers? That conflict should make up the bulk of "Ulton."
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is due in theaters on May 1.
