The 'Hardcore Henry' Trailer Is Unlike Anything You've Ever Seen

Hardcore Henry trailer stillPlenty of video games are now shot like movies, so why shouldn't movies be shot like video games? In the new trailer for the action thriller "Hardcore Henry," it doesn't take long to realize we are seeing the world as Henry, experiencing the action from a first-person POV as he wakes up in some kind of futuristic science facility and is swept up in a mysterious adventure.

Here's the official synopsis from STX Entertainment:

"Strap in. Hardcore Henry is one of the most unflinchingly original wild-rides to hit the big screen in a long time: You remember nothing. Mainly because you've just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back. Who's got her? His name's Akan (Danila Kozlovsky); he's a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination. You're also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead. Everyone except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley.) He may be on your side, but you aren't sure. If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity. Good luck, Henry. You're likely going to need it..."

Henry may not remember how he got into this mess, but it can't suck to suddenly realize you're married to a beautiful Jennifer Lawrence lookalike, and you're now some kind of cybernetic Bourne/Bond/Deadpool super soldier. And apparently you know Tim Roth? We saw you in there, man.

In the trailer, we hear Sharlto Copley's Jimmy tell Henry, "The good news is that you're gonna live a while. The bad news is there's an army standing between you and your wife. So let's go get 'em." Cue Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now," 'cause if you're gonna be a supersonic man who blows stuff up, you should have a decent theme song.

"Hardcore Henry" had a strong debut at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival, when it was just called "Hardcore," and reportedly launched a bidding war between three studios. STX is releasing the film nationwide on April 8th.
