The second season of Netflix's hit series starts March 18 and it picks up with Matt Murdock and his city confronting an uncertain future -- just as new allies and enemies emerge.
Whether you need a quick primer for the new season, or just aren't very familiar with the Daredevil franchise, we're here to help. Here are five key things to know before returning to Hell's Kitchen.
1. There's Chaos In Hell's Kitchen
As the second season opens, various criminal organizations are moving in and trying to take advantage of the power vacuum in the city. That means Murdock is busier than ever in both his law career and his side-job as a costumed vigilante. Expect that to put an even greater strain on the now shaky friendship between Matt and his partner, Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson).
2. The Punisher Returns
Daredevil and Punisher have frequently clashed in the comics because of their conflicting views on justice, and the same will hold true for this series. As Castle tells Daredevil in the Season 2 trailer, "You're a half-measure." Lots of shooting and punching will ensue. Get excited, Marvel fans.
3. Elektra Is Gonna Make Sh** Even Harder for Our Hero
Now, Elodie Yung picks up the character's signature sais -- and looks poised to go all stabby this year. Foggy alluded to the rocky history between Matt and "that Greek girl" in Season 1, and now Elektra will be a major presence in Matt's life as this ninja warrior returns to New York. Again, assuming the show follows the comics, expect the two to clash before they discover each other's true identity.
4. There's More Romantic Drama Brewing
Look for Matt to face plenty of romantic hurdles this season as he grows closer to Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) -- even as ex-girlfriend Elektra re-enters his life. That dilemma will surely complicate his relationship with Foggy, who also pines after Karen.
5. The Hand Is the Real Enemy
Daredevil clashed with their leader, Nobu (Peter Shinkoda), in the first season, and is now set to fight his soldiers. Given The Hand's penchant for resurrection, Matt may even have a rematch with Nobu himself. Also, look for Season 2 to explore both Elektra and Stick's (Scott Glenn) ties to The Hand.
