'Assassin's Creed' Video Shows Off Some Crazy Parkour Moves

Assassin's CreedMovies adapted from video games often rely heavily on computer effects to a detrimental outcome (hello, "Warcraft"), but the upcoming "Assassin's Creed" is avoiding that stereotype.

In this new featurette, director Justin Kurzel and star Michael Fassbender emphasize the practical effects of the movie. "In an era where there's a lot of CGI, we wanted to have as much old-school, real location shoots as possible," Fassbender explains.
Kurzel talks about how Spain becomes almost like a character in the movie, and also talks up the movie's parkour scenes, which were a huge draw for fans of the game.

"Assassin's Creed" centers on Fassbender's prisoner Callum Lynch, who is forced by a mysterious entity to live out the life of his 15th century ancestor in the hope of finding a valuable lost object. He discovers he's descended from a secret society called Assassins, and begins to gain the skills and knowledge to fight against the entity in his present day.

The movie reunites Fassbender with his "Macbeth" director, as well as his co-star Marion Cotillard. It opens in theaters December 21.
