You Weren't Alone in Your 'Walking Dead' Season 7 Premiere Tears

We were warned that we'd need tissues for the "Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere, and it was not an exaggeration. In fact, the return episode was so brutal that it was responsible for a huge majority of the "crying" responses to TV on Twitter Sunday.

*There are spoilers ahead from "The Walking Dead" Season 7, Episode 1.*

The premiere episode finally answered the question of who fell victim to Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his baseball bat, Lucille, and as the Twitter response shows, it was a serious blow to fans as well. The language analytics firm Canvs analyzed nearly 1.7 million "Walking Dead"-related tweets gathered by Nielsen, and more than one-third (34.2 percent, to be exact) expressed emotion of some kind.

Not surprisingly, many of the sentiments shared were negative -- about two-thirds, in fact. Among them were "crazy" (22.2 percent), "dislike" (14.4 percent), "hate" (11.1 percent), "sad" (7.8 percent), "upset" (7.1 percent), and "crying" (3.6 percent). The "Walking Dead" stages of grief, ladies and gentleman.

Apparently, "crying" isn't usually a common response when Canvs analyzes Twitter TV reactions; however, "The Walking Dead" elicited most of Sunday's. All told, the show inspired a whopping 77 percent of them.

Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun) were both big losses, but the Canvs analysis seems to show that Glenn's was harder to take. As you can imagine, there was a spike in negative reactions when the long-standing character met his untimely end. See? You weren't the only one whose tears just kept coming.
