New on DVD and Blu-ray
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"
Don't get your nifflers in a bunch, you'll find all the "Fantastic Beasts" you want this Tuesday, March 28 when the first of five franchise movies arrives on DVD and Blu-ray. Bonus features include "Before Harry Potter: A New Era of Magic Begins!" with writer J.K. Rowling, director David Yates, and producer David Heyman discussing creating the Harry Potter prequel; there are also 11 deleted scenes, "Meet the Fantastic Beasts" profiles of six beasties, and featurettes on various characters in the wizarding world.
"Patriots Day"
Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg teamed up once again to tell this story of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the city-wide manhunt that followed. The action-thriller arrives March 28 on DVD, Blu-ray, 4k Ultra HD Combo Pack, and On Demand. The DVD includes the bonus features "Boston Strong: True Stories of Courage" and "Researching the Day." The digital, Blu-ray, and 4K include both of those extras, and about half a dozen more behind-the-scenes featurettes.

An overprotective dad (Bryan Cranston) meets his daughter's socially awkward billionaire boyfriend (James Franco) in this comedy out March 28 on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Special features include a gag reel, audio commentary, and several featurettes.

In this dark, visually stunning emotional drama, a boy (Lewis MacDougall) with a terminally ill mother (Felicity Jones) is visited by a monster (voiced by Liam Neeson) who tells him stories and helps him face his future. The critically acclaimed movie arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand March 28. Bonus features include deleted scenes, "The Making of 'A Monster Calls'" and "Making of the Tales."
"20th Century Women"
Annette Bening stars in this story set in 1979 Santa Barbara, following a determined singe mother who enlists child-raising help from a punk artist (Greta Gerwig), a teen neighbor (Elle Fanning), and a bohemian handyman (Billy Crudup), forming a makeshift family during a time filled with cultural change. The movie arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on March 28. The Blu-ray and DVD include audio commentary with writer/director Mike Mills, and the featurettes "Making 20th Century Women" and "20th Century Cast."

"Lion"
Inspired by a true story, "Lion" follows 5-year-old Saroo (Sunny Pawar) who falls asleep on a train in India and ends up thousands of miles away from home. He's eventually adopted by an Australian couple (Nicole Kidman and David Wenham), but still longs to be reunited with his birth mother and brother. As an adult (Dev Patel), he searches for his family using just a few memories and the technology of Google Earth. Watch the Oscar nominated film on Digital HD March 28, then April 11 on Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand.

Nominated for three Oscars, including Best Picture, this true story of the African-American women who worked at NASA to help launch John Glenn into orbit arrives on Digital HD March 28, and DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k Ultra HD on April 11. Special features include "It All Adds Up - The Making of Hidden Figures," and featurettes on the era, music, and locations of the movie, plus a look at the life of Katherine Johnson (played by Taraji P. Henson).
"The Marine 5: Battleground"
This fifth installment of "The Marine" franchise brings back Mike "The Miz" Mizanin as former marine Jake Carter, and adds more WWE stars than ever before. The action-adventure debuts on digital March 28 and arrives on Blu-ray and DVD April 25. The release comes with two behind-the-scenes featurettes, "Evening the Odds" and "Superstar Studded."

"Game of Thrones" star Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) stars as the titular former cop fighting his own demons as he works cases as a private detective in Galway, Ireland. The crime noir's third set of episodes make their U.S. premiere Monday, March 27 at Acorn.TV, and the DVD will follow on March 28. The previous two seasons of "Jack Taylor" are already available for streaming on Acorn TV.
"The Blackcoat's Daughter"
This new horror film, starring Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Boynton, and Emma Roberts arrives on iTunes March 28, and in theaters/On Demand March 31. The story follows two girls left alone at their prep school over winter break when their parents mysteriously fail to pick them up. At the same time, a troubled young woman races to get to the prep school for unknown reasons. The movie builds to the moment when the two stories finally connect.
This week marks the start of a new month, which means a bunch of new titles will be available for streaming on Netflix as of April 1 (no foolin'!) and a bunch more will be leaving. But first, we have to get through March.
Netflix likes to debut originals on Fridays, like theatrical premieres, so here are three originals arriving on Friday, March 31:
"The Discovery" (Netflix Original Film)
This looks absolutely fascinating. The sci-fi drama tells the story of a scientist (Robert Redford) whose proof of an afterlife causes a rash of suicides, as his disapproving son (Jason Segel) falls in love with a troubled woman (Rooney Mara) with a tragic past."13 Reasons Why" Season 1 (Netflix Original)
Here's another death-related original, based on the 2007 YA novel "Thirteen Reasons Why." Two weeks after Hannah (Katherin Langford) takes her own life, a classmate named Clay (Dylan Minnette) finds a box on his porch including recordings made by Hannah, explaining the 13 reasons why she chose to commit suicide. The episodes are told through Clay and Hannah's dual narratives."Five Came Back" (Netflix Original)
Netflix's three-part docuseries, based on Mark Harris's best-selling book and narrated by Meryl Streep, reveals how Hollywood changed World War II, and how World War II changed Hollywood. The story is told through interwoven experiences of five legendary filmmakers who went to war and came back to produce their most important works -- John Ford, William Wyler, John Huston, Frank Capra, and George Stevens. The doc features interviews with Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, Guillermo Del Toro, Paul Greengrass, and Lawrence Kasdan.TV Worth Watching
"Bones" Series Finale (Tuesday on FOX at 9 p.m.)
This is it. After 12 seasons, the end is nigh. Booth himself, David Boreanaz, directed the final episode of "Bones," titled "The Final Chapter: The End in the End." Here's the synopsis from FOX: "With Kovac still at large, the team searches for evidence to track him down. After Brennan (Emily Deschanel) experiences a setback, the rest of the team must figure out how to find Kovac without her, putting everything she has ever taught them to the test. When all signs point to Kovac having outside help, as well as a hideout, Booth and Brennan go searching for him." Deschanel told Moviefone that saying goodbye left her "a complete wreck."
"Grimm" Series Finale (Friday on NBC at 8 p.m.)
This week also marks the end of "Grimm," after six seasons. Lucky Episode 13, titled "The End," airs March 31 with this synopsis: "Nick (David Giuntoli) faces off against his greatest foe yet as it seems no weapon can defeat him. At the Spice Shop, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), Rosalee (Bree Turner), and Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) search for answers and stumble upon a rare potion that may help the fight. Elsewhere, Capt. Renard (Sasha Roiz) and Adalind (Claire Coffee) try to keep Diana (Hannah R. Loyd) and baby Kelly safe as the threat has its eyes set on the children."
"The Amazing Race" (Thursday on CBS at 10 p.m.)
Not everything this week is a goodbye; we also get to say hello to "The Amazing Race 29," which will force its 22 contestants to say hello to complete strangers. That's the big twist of this season -- the racers will meet for the first time at the starting line, and be paired into 11 teams of two. The season will reportedly visit 17 cities across five continents and nine countries over 36,000 miles, with destinations including Panama, Tanzania, Norway, and Greece. This is a new night and time for TAR, taking over the timeslot for "Training Day" and moving the rest of the late Bill Paxton's show to Saturdays.
