Comedian Charlie Murphy Dead at Age 57

Comedian Charlie Murphy Performs At Stress Factory Comedy ClubComedian Charlie Murphy, older brother of Eddie Murphy, died while battling leukemia at the age of 57.

Murphy's manager told TMZ that the actor/comedian had been undergoing chemotherapy and that friends were shocked because they believed he had been doing better.

Murphy was best known for writing and performing on "Chappelle's Show" with friend and comedian Dave Chappelle. He had a recurring sketch, "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories," in which he recounted hilarious tales of encounters with '80s stars like Prince and Rick James.

Murphy also wrote for several of his brother's movies, including "Norbit," and acted in shows including "The Boondocks" and "Are We There Yet?" He starred in his own series, "Charlie Murphy's Crash Comedy," on Crackle and toured extensively.

His wife, Tisha Taylor Murphy, died from cancer in 2009. He leaves behind three children.
