Variety reports that the "Carlos" star has been tapped to replace Gerard Butler in the upcoming remake of the '90s classic "Point Break." He'll play Bodhi, the role inhabited by the late Patrick Swayze in the original.
Butler apparently had to drop out due to "scheduling conflicts," and producers Alcon Entertainment quickly jumped into action to fill the gap. "We consider Edgar one of the finest actors in the world today, and we are thrilled he will be creating a fresh new take on the iconic character of Bodhi," Alcon principals Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said in a statement.
Ramirez will star opposite Luke Bracey, who takes on the role of Johnny Utah (played by Keanu Reeves in the original). Johnny is an undercover FBI agent who infiltrates a crime gang made up of surfers.
Hope Ramirez enjoys this once in lifetime opportunity (and one last wave).
