The 'Magic Mike' Sequel Will Be 'Absolutely Insane,' Says Channing Tatum

In an interview with GQ, Tatum reveals a few details about the sequel, which is rumored to be called "Magic Mike XXL." It will be based on his experiences at stripper conventions, like one he attended in Raleigh, NC.

"The women would come from miles and miles around. Then you lock the doors and you say all bets are off. It gets zany and crazy, and it's a wild ride. It's an incubator for insanity," he says. "It doesn't matter almost what you do onstage."

He adds, "If you've been to one, you know how crazy it gets, and now pour kerosene on that. You've seen 'Magic Mike' -- now multiply that. Mob mentality. It's just exponentially crazier. I thought it was absolutely insane."

Tatum and director Steven Soderbergh also confirmed that the latter wouldn't be directing the sequel. Instead, his producing partner Greg Jacobs will take the helm. But Soderbergh will still be involved - he'll be the film's director of photography and editor.

"I want to be a part of it. I want to be in the band, but I just don't want to be the frontman this time," Soderbergh told GQ.

Leave that to Tatum.
