'Dancing With the Stars' Season 21: Bindi Irwin Is First Celebrity Contestant

3rd Annual AACTA Awards - Arrivals"Dancing With the Stars" is taking a different tactic with its casting announcements for the show's upcoming 21st season, revealing its slate of professional and celebrity dancers in small increments. First, we got a list of some of the pros who will hoof it on the series this fall; now, the first star has been announced.

Bindi Irwin, the 17-year-old daughter of the late "Crocodile Hunter" star Steve Irwin, has nabbed one of the celeb spots. "Good Morning America" made the announcement Monday morning, and invited Irwin on the show to talk about her upcoming stint on the reality competition series.

Irwin has continued the work of her father, telling "GMA" that she recently returned from a "crocodile research trip," and is much more comfortable with that rough and tumble lifestyle than with the glitz and glamour that await her on "DWTS."

"This is completely different to anything I have ever done in my life," Irwin told "GMA." "I am used to wrangling crocodiles."

And while the Australia native does have some dance experience that should help her on the show (she's a member of a dance troupe, and once starred in a kids' fitness dance video), she's still afraid of the judges' critiques (minus Len Goodman's, anyway).

"I have to tell you though, the judges scare me more than crocodiles," Irwin told "GMA."

Season 21 of "Dancing With the Stars" kicks off on September 14 on ABC.
