Robert Downey Jr. Leads (Surprising) List of Highest Paid Actors 2015

Avengers: Age Of Ultron Cast at Good Morning America NYChris Evans may be Captain America, but Robert Downey Jr. rules the world.

The "Iron Man" hero is No. 1 on Forbes' new list of the world's highest paid actors. RDJ ownage is nothing too new, since it's his third year in a row topping the charts. Thanks, Marvel! "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" star will probably be back on next year's list, too, after "Captain America: Civil War."

According to Forbes, "the 34 highest-paid actors, who hail from seven countries, earned a combined $941 million before taxes and fees between June 1, 2014 and June 1, 2015. Our list measures earnings before subtracting management fees and taxes; figures are based on data from Nielsen, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, as well as interviews with agents, managers, lawyers-and stars themselves." Six of the top 10 actors are from the United States, but this year -- for the first time -- Forbes also included actors working solely in international markets. As a result, 12 newcomers joined the overall rankings, including five from Bollywood.

A separate list of the highest paid actresses is coming later, but here are the top 10 money-making actors and the $$$ they made in the past year:

1. Robert Downey Jr. - $80 million
2. Jackie Chan - $50 million
3. Vin Diesel - $47 million
4. Bradley Cooper - $41.5 million
5. Adam Sandler - $41 million
6. Tom Cruise - $40 million
7. (two guys tied) Amitabh Bachchan - $33.5 million and Salman Khan - also $33.5 million
9. Akshay Kumar - $32.5 million
10. Mark Wahlberg - $32 million

Anyone else surprised to see Adam Sandler make that much? And if you're wondering about some of those names, Amitabh Bachchan is a 72-year-old film actor from India, Salman Khan is a 49-year-old actor from India, and Akshay Kumar is a 47-year-old actor from (yep) India.

Chris Pratt seems to be the man of the moment, but he hasn't quite made the top 10 20 30 yet. Dwayne Johnson came close, ranking at No. 11, followed by Johnny Depp (still?), Leonardo DiCaprio, Channing Tatum, Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Craig, Matthew McConaughey, Will Smith, Matt Damon, Hugh Jackman, Ben Affleck, Liam Neeson, Russell Crowe, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill... the list goes on (Brad Pitt and George Clooney are way down on the chart, which is kind of a change), but Chris Pratt and Chris Evans don't show up until the 30s, which seems odd, considering their box office powers. Maybe next time?
