Paging Dr. 'Chance': Hugh Laurie Takes the Lead of New Hulu Series

4th Annual Australians In Film - Awards Benefit Dinner And Gala - ArrivalsThey had us at Hugh Laurie Does Anything, but we may need mouth-to-mouth after learning the "House" alum will lead "Chance," Hulu's new psychological thriller series.

According to Deadline, Laurie will play San Francisco-based forensic neuropsychiatrist Dr. Eldon Chance, who gets drawn into a world of mistaken identity, police corruption, and mental illness. "Chance" is based on the novel by Kem Nunn, with Alexandra Cunningham ("Desperate Housewives," "Aquarius") as showrunner, and "Room" director Lenny Abrahamson as an executive producer and director of several episodes. "Chance" already has a two-season 20 episode order for a late 2016 premiere, which is a strong early show of support.

So if you were on the fence about subscribing to Hulu, consider the return of Dr. Laurie to a lead series role. (Question: Is there ANY way we can drag Robert Sean Leonard into this thing, so it's a full House & Wilson reunion?)

Deadline said Hugh Laurie had been the No. 1 choice from the start: "In the years since House ended its run on Fox, the Golden Globe-winning actor had been heavily pursued to headline a new series but had turned down every offer. With Chance, he is all in, and already is actively working with the other executive producers." Fox 21 TV Studios president Bert Salke added, "Hugh has very strong feelings, and he will be involved in every aspect of production."

We like strong feelings. This may mean that Hugh Laurie is not long for "Veep," but that was probably safe to assume anyway.

Are you excited to see how this turns out?
