Even birthing one of the "Stranger Things" kids isn't enough to get you advanced intel on Season 2 anymore.
In an new interview for Emmy magazine, the cast revealed that Netflix is being more careful to avoid leaks compared to the show's first season. The kids can't even let their parents or other family members read the scripts.
"It's a new season, and it's a lot stricter than last year," Gaten Matazarro (Dustin) told Emmy.
Apparently, he sent his brother the scripts last year, but that's not allowed anymore because of concerns over "hacking interference," as he put it.
We can't blame the streamer for calling for caution. Netflix is unfortunately very familiar with more than just scripts ending up in the wrong hands; just this week, a hacker leaked several episodes of "Orange Is the New Black" Season 5 online ahead of its release.
Netflix evidently has some work to do to figure out how to prevent such hacks in the future. "Stranger Things" is due out this fall, and it seems like another show that could be targeted given its large following.
In the meantime, stars Matarazzo, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, and Noah Schnapp are filming in Atlanta, Georgia. We'll get more of the addicting series when "Stranger Things" Season 2 premieres Oct. 31 on Netflix.
