The Amy Winehouse Documentary Trailer Will Break Your Heart
"All I'm good for is making music," Amy Winehouse says in the new full-length trailer for a documentary about the late singer.
That's just one of several statements made in the "Amy" trailer that give it such a haunting quality. Directed by Asif Kapadia ("Senna"), the doc traces the British singer's highs - winning a Grammy, performing for thousands - and lows, up to her 2011 death at the age of 27 from alcohol poisoning.
The trailer touches on her tempestuous relationship with ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil. "I fell in love with someone who I would have died for," she says. "And that's like a real drug, isn't it?"
The song used in the trailer - "Back to Black," written about her breakup with Fielder-Civil - is a stark reminder of how talented Winehouse was, but also how dark her life could be.
"Amy" opens in limited release on July 3.
