"The Unauthorized Friday Night Lights Musical" is set to premiere in late spring or early summer in Los Angeles, and comes from Jordan Ross and Lindsey Rosin, the same people behind musical versions of "The O.C." and "Cruel Intentions." The latter got so much buzz that Ross and Rosin landed a deal at NBC to develop a "Cruel Intentions" sequel for television.
The original "Friday Night Lights" ran for five seasons, first on NBC and then on DirecTV, and starred Kyle Chandler as Coach Eric Taylor and Connie Britton as his wife, Tami Taylor. While the show was lowly-rated on air, it's become a beloved classic thanks to streaming services. And it helped launch the careers of many of its young cast members.
But the best part of the "FNL" news is who will play the all-important role of Coach. It's someone "FNL" fans know and love ... drumroll, please: Scott Porter!

Porter played quarterback Jason Street in the original series. He's also a talented singer and performer, making him the perfect choice to play Coach in the "FNL" musical.Now, the only question is: Who's got the hair and voice to play Tami Taylor?!
