What's New on TV, Netflix Streaming, Digital, and DVD/Blu-ray This Week: November 23-29

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's streaming on Netflix, we've got you covered.

New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital Only

"Minions"
The little yellow henchmen are ready to come home with you on November 24. That's when "Minions" is released on Digital HD, with the DVD and Blu-ray to follow on December 8. Bonus features exclusive to Blu-ray and Digital include three all-new mini movies: "Cro Minion," "Competition," and "Binky Nelson Unpacified"; plus a deleted scene, an interactive map, "Behind the Goggles: The Illumination Story of the Minions," and a lot more. Seriously, a lot.

"Top Five" (Amazon)
Chris Rock stars in this semi-autobiographical story about a comedian and the reporter writing about him (played by Rosario Dawson), available on Amazon November 28. The all-star cast includes Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, J.B. Smoove, and Sherri Shepherd.

"The Second Mother"(iTunes)
"Victoria" (iTunes)
Two movies are coming to iTunes on November 24, the same day they open in theaters. In "The Second Mother" -- which has a 95 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes -- a home's unspoken class barriers come crashing down when the live-in housekeeper's daughter suddenly appears. In "Victoria," four Berliners recruit a thrill-seeking Spanish woman to be their bank robbery getaway driver.

New on DVD and Blu-ray

"Ricki and the Flash"Meryl Streep can do anything, so watch her play a rock star named Ricki Rendazzo, who aims for a shot at redemption and a chance to make things right with her family. Written by Diablo Cody and directed by Jonathan Demme, the film co-stars Kevin Kline, Rick Springfield, Audra McDonald, and Streep's real-life daughter Mamie Gummer. The Blu-ray and DVD both include "Getting Ready for Ricki: The Making of Ricki and the Flash - Cast and Crew Walk Through Creating a Rock Goddess and Finding the Heart of the Story." The Blu-ray alone also has deleted scenes, a cast photo gallery, and a featurette called "Rediscovering Rick Springfield."

"Shaun the Sheep Movie"
Shaun takes a day off from Mossy Bottom Farm to explore the Big City and has a bit too much of an adventure. Blu-ray and DVD special features include the featurettes "Making the Shaun Movie," "Meet the Characters," "Join Shaun Behind the Scenes," and "Meet the Crew." There's also a parody poster gallery.

"Inside Amy Schumer"
All 10 episodes of Amy Schumer's brilliant third season on Comedy Central are available on disc this week. Bonus features include outtakes and deleted scenes, an exclusive unaired sketch, and unaired "Amy Goes Deep" interviews. Worth a binge especially for the "12 Angry Men" parody and the "Girl, You Don't Need Makeup" sketch.

"A Christmas Horror Story"
This is a Christmas horror film starring William Shatner, which is really all you should need to know. But if you need more, it's an anthology movie with interwoven stories taking place on Christmas Eve, linked together by Shatner's Bailey Downs radio station DJ Dan. Watch it on disc starting November 24.

New on Netflix

"Home"The DreamWorks Animation family film, with Jim Parsons as the voice of Oh and Rihanna as Tip, starts streaming on Netflix November 25.

"Zipper"
Here's another guy that can't keep it in his pants and it threatens to ruin his life. Patrick Wilson plays Sam Ellis, a federal prosecutor with a bright political future. But what was meant to be a one-time experience with a high-end escort turns into an addiction and spirals out of control. This drama thriller didn't get great reviews but it has a fantastic cast in Lena Headey, Richard Dreyfuss, Ray Winstone, John Cho, Dianna Agron, Christopher McDonald, and Alexandra Breckenridge. Available on Netflix November 26.

TV Worth Watching

"Pretty Little Liars: 5 Years Forward" (Tuesday on ABC Family at 8 p.m.)PLL fans are anxious for the January 12 return of Season 6, and you can get yourself prepared with this a one-hour behind-the-scenes glimpse at the upcoming five-year time jump. The special will offer fans a look at what the characters have been up to inside and outside of Rosewood over the past five years. You'll get never-before-seen scenes, backstage tours of brand new PLL sets, interviews with the cast and crew, and a look at the style evolution of the Liars.

"Dancing With the Stars" (Tuesday on ABC at 9 p.m.)
This is it. The Fall 2015 Mirror Ball trophy will find its forever home on November 24. The two hour finale, from 9-11, will bring back the eliminated contestants and give us final routines from the top three dancers, and then the winners will be announced around 10:55 p.m. Bindi Irwin is going to win, right? Used to think it would be Nick Carter, but Bindi Fever has basically taken over.

"Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" (Wednesday on The CW at 8 p.m.)
This classic Thanksgiving comedy -- also a major heart-tugger -- is airing on The CW the day before T-Day. Steve Martin plays a high-strung advertising executive who is desperate to make it from New York to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving. John Candy plays the optimistic overly chatty salesman he meets along the way. Did you know this was written, produced, and directed by John Hughes? One of his greats.

"The Walking Dead" (Sunday on AMC at 9 p.m.)'Tis the season for midseason finales, and TWD is ending the first half of Season 6 on November 29. Episode 8 is called "Start to Finish" and here is AMC's synopsis: "After a few moments of peace, trouble finds its way to Alexandria again with a threat that may be too big to defeat." Like all those walkers at the gate?
