John Stamos Gets Probation in DUI Plea, Avoids Jail Time

67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - ArrivalsJohn Stamos has pleaded no contest to DUI, avoiding jail time and getting three years probation following his arrest this summer.

The actor entered his plea via his attorney at a hearing in Los Angeles on Tuesday, answering charges that he was driving under the influence of a drug back in June. Stamos faced a jail sentence of six months in connection with that charge, which was handed down last month. His arraignment hearing was initially slated to take place a few days after that, but was postponed until this week.

Instead of jail time, Stamos, a first-time offender, has been placed under informal probation for 36 months, and will have to pay a fine of $390 for the misdemeanor drug charge. He will also have to attend classes at the DMV as part of his probation, though according to Deadline, that should not affect the actor's work schedule on his freshman Fox sitcom, "Grandfathered."

Stamos was arrested on June 12 after an officer stated that the actor was "allegedly behaving strangely and driving erratically" in Beverly Hills. He was hospitalized that night, and entered into rehab for substance abuse soon after.
