At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's streaming on Netflix, we've got you covered.
New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital Only
"The Martian"
You can bring Matt Damon home -- at least through digital download -- just in time to meet your family for the holidays. "The Martian," based on the best-selling novel by Andy Weir, is arriving on Digital HD on December 22, with the Blu-ray and DVD releases to follow on January 12. The 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and Digital HD releases have more than 90 minutes of special features, including an exclusive in-world retrospective starring Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Sean Bean, covering the "true" story behind the daring rescue seven years after the events of the film. There are also two making-of documentaries, a gag reel, and more.
"Hotel Transylvania 2"
It would be nice to be able to wrap this monster box-office hit and put it under the tree in time for Christmas, but it's not out on disc until January 12. But you can still watch it with the kids via digital download starting December 22. The adorable "Hotel Transylvania" sequel reunites the "Drac's Pack" as they try to put Mavis and Johnny's son Dennis through a "monster-in-training" boot camp to bring out his vampire side.
"Everest"
"Everest" documents the awe-(and terror)inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged by a major snowstorm as they attempt to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain. The 2015 survival film -- inspired by true events -- stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley, Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, and Emily Watson. It's available on all major Digital HD platforms on December 22, with the on disc and On Demand releases coming January 19.
"Sicario"
Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro star in this critically lauded thinking person's action thriller. "Sicario" is set on the border between the U.S. and Mexico, following an idealistic FBI agent (Blunt) called in to aid the escalating war on drugs. It's doing the digital drop this week with the discs to follow on January 5. The Blu-ray and Digital HD releases include behind-the-scenes interviews with Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro; a look at the visual design of the film with director Denis Villeneuve; a feature on the creation of the score with Oscar-nominated composer Jóhann Jóhannsson; and a discussion about writer Taylor Sheridan's research for the script.
New on DVD and Blu-ray
"Pawn Sacrifice"Your move. This tense, gripping biological drama follows American chess legend Bobby Fischer (Tobey Maguire) and Soviet Grandmaster Boris Spassky (Liev Schreiber) at the 1972 World Chess Championship during the height of the Cold War. The true story arrives on Blu-ray/Digital HD on December 22. Special features include "Bobby Fischer, the Cold War and the Match of the Century."
"The Wiz Live"
You can ease on down the road to watch NBC's "The Wiz Live!" on DVD starting December 22. Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Shanice Williams, Ne-Yo, Common, Amber Riley, Uzo Aduba, and David Alan Grier star in the new adaptation of the 1975 Broadway musical "The Wiz." The DVD includes the NBC special, "The Making of The Wiz Live," featuring the behind-the-scenes story of producing this live television event.
New on Netflix
"Dawn of the Croods"
The world's FIRST family is back for more fun as they discover sports, sleepovers, and other world wonders in this Netflix original series. The animated TV comedy, from DreamWorks Animation, takes place before the 2013 movie "The Croods" and its upcoming sequel. Season 1 starts streaming on Netflix on December 24

"Queen of Earth"
In this 2015 psychological thriller -- which is also out on DVD this week -- tensions rise when an emotionally fragile woman (Elisabeth Moss) spends one week with her best friend (Katherine Waterston). The movie has a 91 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so maybe give it a stream starting December 22.
"Invisible Sister"
This Disney Channel Original movie, based on the book of the same name by Beatrice Colin and Sara Pinto, follows a student who makes her older sister invisible during a failed science project. Oops! It stars Rowan Blanchard and Paris Berelc and it hits Netflix December 23.
TV Worth Watching
"The Great Holiday Baking Show" (Monday on ABC at 10 p.m.)Somehow, it's already time for the finale of America's holiday version of the U.K.'s "Bake-Off" show. Who will be the big winner -- Lauren, Tim, or Nicole? (Guessing Lauren.) Whatever happens, here's rooting for more yummy fun from judges Mary Berry, Johnny Iuzzini, and company. Can ABC please make this a regular season-length show in 2016?
"It's A Wonderful Life" (Thursday on NBC at 8 p.m.)
Christmas Eve wouldn't be the same without "It's a Wonderful Life." Frank Capra's 1946 classic airs over three hours Thursday night, so consider putting it on in the background while you bake cookies or do whatever it is that you do before Santa arrives.
"It's Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown" (Thursday on ABC at 8 p.m.)
If you're just not that into George Bailey and his Bedford Falls problems, consider checking out ABC's Christmas Eve double-dose of Charlie Brown. The fun starts from 8 to 9 p.m. with this 50th special, followed by "A Charlie Brown Christmas" at 9 p.m.
