'Happy Chewbacca' Woman's Life-Affirming Facebook Video Sets Viewing Record

Laugh it up, fuzzball! The Internet cannot stop belly laughing along with (not at) Candace Payne, our beloved Wookie Woman, whose joyful wearing of a Chewbacca mask she picked up at Kohl's has earned nearly 38 million views so far. (Probably more by the time you read this.) Plus, it has been shared more than 1.1 million times at this point. According to Business Insider, that makes it Facebook Live's most-watched video of all time.

The Force is clearly strong with this Star Wars fan, who labeled her Facebook video "It's the simple joys in life....," and that simple joy is definitely the appeal.

She starts her video by admitting, "I'd like to say that I bought this for my son that would really, really want it. ... However, this is mine. At the end of the day, this is mine that I bought and I'm going to keep it for my own!" She opens the box to much fanfare, saying it's part of her own birthday joy. Once she puts on the mask and plays the Wookie sound, she starts laughing -- and keeps laughing the most beautiful laugh for several minutes.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this! You should read the Facebook comments, too, since -- for once -- the Internet bonded through happy tears. It's refreshing to see something so innocent and joyful be embraced by the planet. We needed this. And Kohl's is probably thrilled, too, since they are about to sell a lot more Chewbacca masks.
