This Sunday's "Game of Thrones" Season 6, Episode 5 was just hyped as an "all-timer," but we're equally excited about what comes after that.
HBO just dropped intel on the May 29 and June 5 episodes:
Season 6, Episode 6, "Blood of My Blood," premieres Sunday, May 29. Here's the synopsis:
"An old foe comes back into the picture. Gilly (Hannah Murray) meets Sam's (John Bradley) family. Arya (Maisie Williams) faces a difficult choice. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) faces off against the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce)."
Written by Bryan Cogman; directed by Jack Bender.
Season 6, Episode 7, "The Broken Man," premieres Sunday, June 5. Here's that synopsis:
"The High Sparrow eyes another target. Jaime confronts a hero. Arya makes a plan. The North is reminded."
Written by Bryan Cogman; directed by Mark Mylod.
SPOILER & SPECULATION ALERT
Who is this old foe? Do you think it's The Hound, who is said to be the one actor Ian McShane resurrects in his one-off role? McShane already revealed that his character "is an ex-warrior who's become a peacenik. So I have this group of peaceful...it's like a cult, peaceful tribe... who have brought back...I bring back this beloved character that everyone thinks is dead." The Hound was a foe on screen, but beloved by viewers, and in the book, he is thought to be the gravedigger on the Quiet Isle, not quite dead, with McShane as a TV version of Elder Brother.
The episode title "Broken Man" was thought to perhaps refer to the return of the Hound/Sandor Clegane, but if Jaime confronts a hero, that could be the Riverrun siege. But if/when The Hound does return, when will we get to Cleganebowl?
Arya facing a difficult choice and making a plan could suggest she receives information about her Westeros family and is ready to stop being No One and head over to Winterfell. Or that may just be wishful thinking. How is the North reminded? Is this the start of the Stark vs. Bolton showdown?
Do you have any theories/hopes for Episode 6 and Episode 7? There are only 10 episodes to the season (wah!) so we're already on the way out.
