'Avengers: Infinity War': Tony Stark & Star-Lord Scenes Are Like 'Spontaneous Combustion'

There are nine million Marvel characters in "Avengers: Infinity War," but only one Tony Stark. Put Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) across from anyone and sparks will fly, but Star-Lord (Chris Pratt)? Can the universe even handle that much awesome? We can't wait to see for ourselves.

Dave Bautista has already seen it first-hand, and he shared his own gushing fanboy reaction with Yahoo. Bautista is currently promoting his new movie "Bushwick," but since he's part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Drax in "Guardians of the Galaxy," and the Guardians will be in "Avengers: Infinity War," he's also answering all sorts of "Avengers" questions.

Bautista told Yahoo he has a lot of interaction with Chris Pratt and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) in "Infinity War," saying it's always great when they let him play the straight man to Pratt's humor. "When we said something funny, [the directors, the Russo brothers] would come in after the take and go, 'What was that you said? Say that again!' They were really excited about it."

That segued into a talk about Tony Stark, so here's that part of the Q&A:

Robert Downey Jr., of course, is noted for improvising many of Tony Stark's funniest moments as well. Did you get to riff with him?
We do. I'm excited about some of the stuff we did, but I don't know what's going to make it in the film. I always thought there would be a lot of good interaction between Tony Stark and Drax, and there was. And Star-Lord and Tony Stark as well. When you put those two guys in a room together, it's like a spontaneous combustion. Talk about two talented guys who are so witty and smart and honed-in on their craft. It was a spectacle, and I'm so excited I got to witness it firsthand.

Sounds like Chris Hemsworth may have some competition in his bromance with Chris Pratt.

Then again, Bautista is most sweet on RDJ (as we should all be). He gushed more about the Iron Man star in a talk with Entertainment Weekly, saying Downey approached him long before it was even announced that the Guardians would be joining the Avengers movies:

"He went out of his way to come up, and compliment me about my performance in [the first] Guardians, which was something special to me, especially at that point, where I was just starting my career. He literally went out of his way to come up, and tell me how much he loved my performance, and loved Guardians of the Galaxy, and that meant the world to me. It put me at ease with him. Those are were my best memories, on the set of Avengers, was working with him, because I looked up to him for so many years as a performer."

Sounds like a total love-fest on all sides. "Avengers: Infinity War" opens May 4th, 2018.
