'Game of Thrones' Stars Hype Season 7 Finale: 'It's Going to Be Truly Epic'

You're gonna need a bigger screen.

The "Game of Thrones" Season 7 finale airs this Sunday, Aug. 27, and the stars are now hyping the record 80-minute Episode 7, "The Dragon and the Wolf."

Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion) told The Hollywood Reporter, when it comes to this finale, we should think on a larger scale:

"I think what everybody imagines, they're going to get it, and maybe even a little bit more. It's the last episode, so things are really ramping up. It's going to be truly epic. You're going to wish you were watching on a massive cinema screen. [...] Or sit really, really close to your 50-inch TV."

Heck, we'd jump inside the TV if we could.

A previous mini spoiler said Episode 6 would have the last major battle scene of the season, so we're not expecting a big fight in Episode 7 -- despite the armies seen in the promo, and in the photo below -- but we are still expecting some big developments.

As Alan Taylor, who directed the previous Episode 6, told THR:

"What becomes more important is not so much the scale of the action as it is the scale of the story point. I was lucky to have a major one like the Night King going nuclear and having the weapons the good guys have. I can say the next episode that finishes this short season, the plot point evolves in an even more dramatic way. It takes a huge leap forward. It keeps building."

Huge leap forward, plot wise...

Here's more from Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane), describing the finale:

"It's going to be interesting, I can tell you that. It's like 'Game of Thrones' is competing with 'Game of Thrones,' in the way that we feel everybody has to take it up another notch to make the fans happy. I really think they have done that this year. When you have a battle in episode two, and a huge one in episode four ... these are big, big sequences. Somehow, it feels like the thing on 'Game of Thrones' now is, if anybody comes up with a [great] idea, whatever the cost, the ambition, everyone has to say yes. We're competing with ourselves. Episode seven is maybe the longest one. We're talking about a feature-length episode."

Yes, it's 80 minutes, no commercials, so that is darn-near feature-length.

We know the finale will include Jon Snow trying to convince (pregnant, and tense) Queen Cersei to agree to a truce with Queen Daenerys and join together to fight the White Walkers. There's also the escalating tension up north at Winterfell between Sansa and Arya Stark, as instigated by Littlefinger, with Bran doing whatever he does these days. Theon will also be involved in some way, since he has a big presence in the photos HBO released to tease the finale.

"Game of Thrones" ends the 2017 season this Sunday, Aug. 27. Pre-production has already begun for Season 8, the final season, which starts filming this October for a premiere in either 2018 or 2019.
