'Game of Thrones' Fans Blame Show for Making Them Root for Incest

What was taboo to "Game of Thrones" fans in Season 1 isn't any longer -- and no one seems to know quite how to deal with that.

Read on only if you are prepared for Season 7 spoilers!

Sunday's finale episode finally laid out all of the facts surrounding the parentage of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) -- also known as the new Aegon Targaryen. Although there had been plenty of hints, the official reveal was still dramatic, because it came as Jon was falling into bed with his own aunt, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). Since neither of the two were aware of their shared heritage, they weren't fazed, but viewers couldn't say the same.

Watching Jon and Dany's relationship progress to the next level, many fans found themselves feeling awkward. Though they knew they shouldn't be cheering for the new couple ... well, they couldn't help but do so anyway. To deal with their confusion, they turned to Twitter.

Jon and Dany shippers had hilarious reactions to having rooted for incest, with numerous people blaming "Game of Thrones" for normalizing it. They couldn't help but marvel over how different their reaction to the taboo subject was compared to Season 1. Instead of feeling appalled like they did when they realized Cersei (Lena Headey) and Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) were much closer than most twins, they were all for seeing the Targaryens get equally close.

Fans' conflicted emotions will surely be nothing compared to Daenerys and Jon's when they finally learn the truth; the revelation is going to seriously complicate their love affair. Sadly, we won't see that until the final season, which might not premiere until 2019.
