'Chicago Fire' Fans Torn After Season 6 Poster and Promo Give Conflicting Hints

"Chicago Fire" is officially having too much fun torturing us.

Season 5 left fans with an agonizing cliffhanger, and the show has only continued to prey on concern for the fate of Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) since. The uncertainty got especially bad Thursday, when NBC unveiled a new poster that got fans' hopes only, only to be followed by a tearjerker of a promo hinting at a devastating outcome.

Let's start with the good: the poster. With Casey nearly front and center, that seems like a good sign, right?

Many fans certainly seemed to think the poster indicated he would survive, as they indicated in hopeful tweets.

But then came the new promo and its much more tragic tease. The video reminds us of all of our "burning questions" without answering our biggest one. We see Casey being found, but there is no clear evidence that he is alive. To make matters worse, the promo shows what looks like a memorial service, and then it ends with a photo of Casey that could very well be displayed at a funeral.

Just as we're sure NBC wanted it to, the promo stirred up a lot of concern.

We're ready for the answers to these burning questions now, but we're stuck waiting till "Chicago Fire" Season 6 premieres on Sept. 28 on NBC.
