The original setting for Tatooine was Tunisia, which is a pretty choice place to vacation for "Star Wars" fans looking for their own jaunt into the Jundland Wastes. As it happens, the Tourism Chamber for the Oasis and Sahara regions has recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to "Save Mos Espa" before sand dunes overtake the city of Ong Jmel, where many scenes in "Star Wars" were set. The vibe that the "Episode VII" folks are looking for is Moroccan, and they'll be building the set from scratch. Put that on your vacation bucket list now.
Of course, being that this is an Abrams project, almost everything newsworthy is locked down tighter than a Tauntaun sleeping bag. However, we were pretty psyched to learn that the OG Wookiee Peter Mayhew is returning as Chewbacca. We'll savor that news nugget for a few days.
"Star Wars: Episode VII" opens on December 18, 2015.
