Emilia Clarke Won't Be Back for 'Terminator' Sequels

emilia clarke, terminator, genisys, sarah connorAfter "Terminator: Genisys" opened last year to middling success at the box office (and was a fairly definitive dud among critics), it seemed unlikely that there would be a sequel. Now, star Emilia Clarke has officially removed herself from the equation, revealing in a recent interview that she won't be back for any future installments.

Clarke, who played a young Sarah Connor in the reboot, chatted with ComingSoon.net about her upcoming slate of film projects. But those plans don't include any more "Terminator" flicks. Here's what she told the site:

"No," Clarke put it succinctly when we asked if she might again play Sarah Connor in future Terminator sequels. "Can I say that? It's okay. No. Uh-uh. But I have some very different roles coming up."

That's a pretty blunt response, but we don't blame her for wanting to emphasize her other projects, while also distancing herself from the disappointing "Genisys." According to ComingSoon, studio Paramount is reportedly "readjusting" its vision for the future of the franchise following this latest reboot's underwhelming performance. Now, it will have to do so without its star.

Don't feel too bad for Clarke, though. After all, she's still starring on the massively popular "Game of Thrones," and has the promising "Me Before You" opening this summer. Hopefully "Genisys" will just be a blip on the road to a long and satisfying career for the starlet.
