'Party of Five' Getting Rebooted With Immigration Twist

Calling "Party of Five" — again!

A reboot of the family drama, which aired on Fox from 1994 to 2000, is in the works from original creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman. But they're adding a new twist — immigration.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reboot would be about a first-generation Latino family who immigrate to the United States and deal with the highs and lows of living in their new country.

Presumably, something happens or has happened to the parents, since the original show focused on five siblings —Charlie (Matthew Fox), Bailey (Scott Wolf), Julia (Neve Campbell), Claudia (Lacey Chabert) and baby Owen — struggling with the aftermath of their parents' death in a car crash.

The reboot is being developed at Sony Pictures Television, and no network is yet attached.

The original series won a Golden Globe for Best Drama in 1996. It launched the careers of Fox (who later went on to star in "Lost"), Wolf, and Campbell, as well as other recurring actors like Jennifer Love Hewitt. It even spawned a short-lived spinoff starring Hewitt called "Time of Your Life."
