Does this ruin your theory about Betty's brother, "Riverdale" fans?
Season 1 ended with the shocker from Betty Cooper's (Lili Reinhart) mother Alice (Mädchen Amick) that she got pregnant when she was in high school, and gave her son up for adoption. So Betty has a secret brother out there. According to TVLine, we'll meet her brother -- named Chic Cooper -- midway through Season 2, which starts Wednesday, Oct. 11.
TVLine says they The CW is now casting the role of Chic, who will be a recurring guest star.
There is a Chic Cooper in the Archie Comics:
"Chic Cooper is Betty's elder brother and is probably the eldest of the Cooper children. He has strawberry blonde hair and is a prankster. Betty's cat Caramel is shown to like him a lot. He is a secret agent for the government."
Secret agent for the government? Maybe they'll keep that nugget for the TV show.
But if Chic is an entirely new character, there goes the Reddit-based theory that Joaquin is Betty's brother. Actor Rob Raco even teased that theory on Twitter...

... but apparently a tease is all it was? There's probably more going on than we can guess. Fans will have to wait and see how the Chic mystery is solved in Season 2.
"Riverdale" Season 2 starts with "Chapter Fourteen: A Kill Before Dying" on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
