This 'Westworld' Season 2 Casting Certainly Points to Samurai World

One of the coolest parts of the "Westworld" Season 1 finale is inching closer to full reality for Season 2.

As you'll recall, Maeve (Thandie Newton) gave us a glimpse of SW -- presumably Samurai World -- in her tour of Delos. So we know there are other theme parks in this world, beyond Westworld, and a new casting for Season 2 further hinted to visiting said world next year.

According to TV Guide, Hiroyuki Sanada ("Lost") will play Musashi in multiple episodes of "Westworld" Season 2.

'Life' Premiere - 2017 SXSW Conference and FestivalsAs TV Guide noted, the name Musashi might look familiar if you studied the HBO figurines that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con. Turns out, one of them was something of a character spoiler:

We don't know anything about the character beyond that visual, but if that doesn't point to Samurai World, what does?

Back in December, after the end of Season 1, "Westworld" co-creator Jonathan Nolan said he hoped to have Samurai World play out in Season 2.

It's not clear if Samurai World is also Park 1, but Felix gave Maeve a note that her daughter was in Park 1, so we're expecting to hear more about that in Season 2. (The original movie "Westworld," written and directed by Michael Crichton, also featured the parks Roman World and Medieval World.)

Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores) told Variety we'll be seeing a lot more of what Westworld is capable of, and backstory about why it's there, in Season 2. She also said Season 2 is twice as ambitious as Season 1, and she's still shocked by the twist and turns:

A teaser for "Westworld" Season 2 played at Comic-Con:HBO has yet to reveal a premiere date, but "Westworld" Season 2 will arrive in 2018.

Meanwhile, "Westworld" Season 1 tied for the most Emmy nominations of 2017 with 22 nods. See how many it picks up when the Emmy Awards air this Sunday, Sept. 17 on CBS.
