Forbes: Jeremy Renner Was Hollywood's Best Actor for the Buck in 2017

FRANCE-CANNES-FILM-FESTIVALThe most underrated Avenger is worth every penny.

This is the final week of 2017, and that means the Internet is jam-packed with year-end lists. Forbes has been doling out data on things like the top-grossing actors of 2017 (here's that list), and now a list of the actors who give the biggest bangs for the bucks. That may sound dirty, but it just means a good investment. (As in, not like Johnny Depp.)

Here's how Forbes phrased their praise for Jeremy Renner's bankability:

"Studios looking for a bargain ought to consider Jeremy Renner: His movies returned an average $93.80 at the box office for every $1 he was paid, making him this year's best actor for the buck.

With roles in grand franchises including Marvel's Captain America movies and Mission: Impossible, Renner has proven himself to be a sound investment who offers reliable box office results. With a more modest quote than some of his counterparts he regularly pulls off hits: His co-starring turn in 2016's Oscar-nominated sci-fi Arrival grossed an impressive $203.4 million on a $47 million budget."

You know his agent just sent Forbes a huge bouquet.

Here's the list for 2017:

5. Chris Pratt, returns $34.40 for every $1 paid
4. Amy Adams, $46.10
3. Scarlett Johansson, $66.50
2. Emma Watson, $77.70
1. Jeremy Renner, $93.80

Very interesting. Three Marvel stars. Two "Arrival" stars. One DC star. And a "Beauty."

Last year's Best Actor for the Buck was Captain America himself, Chris Evans, who returned an average of $135.80 for every $1 he was paid. Huge return on the investment.

And now for the methodology. Forbes said they tallied their 2017 ranking by looking at the last three films each actor starred in prior to June 1, 2017, leaving out animated films, movies in which the actor had a small role, or movies that were shown on fewer than 2,000 screens. Movies released after June 1, 2017, were not considered.

Several of the stars named above will next be seen in "Avengers: Infinity War," opening May 4.
