Truly outrageous! Oscar nominee Juliette Lewis is joining the cast of "Jem and the Holograms," according to Deadline.
John M. Chu is directing the live-action version of the '80s cartoon classic about a music company owner who moonlights as the lead singer of a rock band. Aubrey Peeples is set to play Jerrica Benton aka Jem.
Which character Lewis will be inhabiting is still a mystery. Lewis is a talented singer who's fronted her own rock bands before. The easy answer is that she's playing Synergy, the computer/fairy godmother that helps transform Jerrica into Jem. Or perhaps Lewis is a part of the rival band, the Misfits.
Production on "Jem and the Holograms" is already underway, but no release date has been set.
